today was the first cycling day in Argentina. I left late, I was lazy. It all went very fine, going down from Alto Plano, until 25 km to go to Humahuanca. when the rain started and stopped immediately. But then the Southern wind (exactly from the front) started and didn´t stop. It looks like the driver are more polite, the road is pretty decent, but there is no shoulder to bike on.
the landscape is the world heritage Quebrada de Humahuaca.
the wind did slow down my descent considerably, so I had to stop in Huacalera. I met an Italian cyclist there, he had a friend that was offering him accommodation. But the friend was not there, so we went togethere to see a hosteleria. It was expensive, but I was recommended Solar del Tropico, that apparently also offers camping places. At “solar”, placed exactly on the geographical line of the Tropic of Capricorn, Rémy Rasse, a French artist established in Argentina offered me his painting atelier, so i don´t have to pitch the tent. Merci beucoup, Rémy ! I had dinner and a long chat with Rémy about travelling, by bike, by horse, etc.
And I was invited for a free breakfast. Cool, isn´t it ?
how many of you did sleep exaclty on the line of The Tropic of Capricorn ?
