Day32. Desaguadero to La Paz

Today I woke up normally to cross the border into Bolivia. One big stage of my trip was finished and I was about the begin the second one. After crossing the entire Peru from West to East, over the high passes of the Andes, I was prepare to face Bolivian mountains.
My hostal was literally 50 meters from the border, I just showed the passport with the visa on it and there was absolutely no problem. I take pictures with a local guy riding a tricycle, each on his bike. Then I continue towards La Paz. As my road passes by Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco) archaeological site, I stop here for a visit. I love history and this is a place that one shouldn’t miss while in the area. I continue on the hilly area, I long climb lies ahead of me as I leave Tiwanaku. But the image of the high mountains around LaPaz well worth the effort. I would stay and admire the chain of mountains for hours and hours, but is getting late and I would like to arrive in La Paz for the night. When I finally view the city I know I am like 30 km away, and is getting dark already. This is the most impressive urban unfolding I have seen so far: thousands of lights, spread on the mountain ahead of me. I look to the left and the chain of lights seems unfinished. Same to the right. After more easy biking I arrive in the city and suburbs. The outskirts look a little scary, but I was expecting worst. I don’t stop, I want to find a place where I can call Christian , the owner of Casa de Ciclistas.

124 km, laTe arrival, all ok
